Montreal bar sales, business down as Habs struggle

The slow, painful descent of the Montreal Canadiensis partly responsible for aplummet in sales fordowntown bars.

Peter Sergakis,the president of the Union of Quebec Bar Owners Association, says bar revenue isdown nearly 30 per cent.

Frustrated fans aresteering clear of bars and businesses, with a50 per cent drop in customers during the months of January and February.

However, Sergakissays the decline in sales is due to a combination of thestruggling Canadiens and a sluggish economy.
