Montreal hopes to host cycling congress for 375th anniversary

Montreal hopes to bring winter cycling to the city in a new way for 2017 it's hoping tohost theWinter Cycling Congress next yearas part of Montreal's375thanniversary celebrations.

A city official will be present this week in Minneapolis at the Winter Cycling Congress, where the announcement revealing the next hostcity will be made.

"In terms of bike culture, we're the envy of North America, that's for sure," saidcitycouncillorMarc-AndrGadoury, who will make a presentation at the conference onMontreal's new snow removal policy and implementation offour-season bike paths.

Gadourysays the long-term goal is to not close any bike paths in Montreal during the winter months.

"We have implemented all the new bike paths, all the new bike links are four-season," Gadoury said, adding that he expects to know which city will be next to host the annual conference by the end of the week.
