The City of Montreal is promising to make its roads safer for cyclists and pedestrians.

On Wednesday, city officials announced a new safety plan which includes:

  • examining the possibility of a 30-km/h speed limit in residential neighbourhoods and in front of schools.
  • revising where trucks are allowed and aren't allowed in the city, as well as delivery zones, hours and limits on truck sizes.
  • a pilot project adding more four-way stops to slow traffic.
  • installation of priority lights for cyclists at some intersections.

The city will also track where accidents occur most frequently. Currently, it has a list of the 10 most dangerous intersections the locations where collisions result in the highest number of fatalities or serious injuries.

Here are the 10 riskiest intersections for which no infrastructure changes are planned in the short term.
