Montreal investors in alleged Ponzi scheme call charity for help

Montreals Sun Youth charity organization said Wednesday it's been fielding calls from some people who invested with Earl Jones.

Sun Youth provides low income families in Montreal with emergency assistance, such as food vouchers and baskets during times of financial crisis.

Jones,the financial adviser who is suspected of stealing as much as $50 million from his clients, is nowhere to be found.He has not been charged, and the allegations against him have not been proven in court.

Eric Kingsley, Sun Youth's co-ordinator for client services, said the calls have come from seniors who were living off their investments.

"What Sun Youth can do is [meet] basic, basic needs that we do for all our clientele. Theyll have access to our food bank. Theyll have access to medication programs. We can help them cover the cost of medication at the pharmacy," said Kingsley.

Kingsley said Sun Youth plans to contact the Quebec government to see if it can offer money to help victims of white-collar crime.
