Montreal mayoral candidates set to face off in English debate

Valrie Plante, Denis Coderre and Balarama Holness will participate in the debate organized by Montreal's main English media outlets.

Catch it live starting at 5:30 p.m. online, on CBC Radio One and CBC Television

The three leading candidates for mayor of Montrealwill be taking part in an English municipal election debate on Thursday.

Valrie Plante (Projet Montral), Denis Coderre (Ensemble Montral) and Balarama Holness (Mouvement Montral) will participate.

The event is being organized by Montreal's main English media outletsand will be broadcast live from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Tune in starting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday on CBC:

  • Online: Watch live on cbc.ca/montreal and on the CBC Montreal Facebook page. Afterward,the debate will be available on demand hereand on Facebook.
  • Radio: CBC Radio One in Montreal (88.5 FM and 104.7 FM).
  • TV: CBC Television main network.

CBC Montreal, The Montreal Gazette, Global News Montreal, CJAD 800, CityNews Montrealand CTV News Montreal are jointly producing the event which is the only English-language debate to be held during the campaign.

CBC Montreal's Debra Arbec and CTV Montreal's Mutsumi Takahashi will moderate the 90-minute debate, covering six topics: housing, public safety, the economy, the climate crisis, inclusion and transportation.

Laura Casella of Global News Montreal will host and CityNews Montreal's Alyssia Rubertucci will present questions from the public.
