Montreal's police brotherhood says it'll consider making an exception and asking officers to weartheir uniformpantsfor former mayor Jean Dor's funeral and visitation, if the police administration ask them.

Officers have been wearing colourful and camouflage pants instead of their uniform-issued garbfor almost a year to protest against changes made to their pension plans.

Last week, police faced criticism after members of the force wore those pants to former premier Jacques Parizeau's funeral. Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre demanded an apology, saying the decision to wear the camo pants to the statesman's funeral showed a lack of class.

Now Coderre has formally requested police wear their uniform pants to Dor's funeral.

"I hope that during the visitation and the funeral for Jean Dor, people take precise note on the situation and police forces show up in full uniform," said Coderre.

A spokesman for the police brotherhood said in a statement that if the SPVM administration ask them, they will studythe situation, and possibly make the decision to wear their full uniform, as they did at the funeral of Canadiens great Jean Bliveau last December.
