19-year-old man shows up at hospital after being shot, dies shortly after, Montreal police say

Montreal police are investigating after a 19-year-old man showed up at hospital after being shot on Saturday morning, and died shortly after. The SPVM is also investigating reports of shots being fired in the Southwest borough, but it's not clear if the two events are linked.

Montreal police are investigating after a 19-year-old man showed up at a local hospital after being shot, and died shortly after.

Police received a call at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday regarding a person who had gone to hospital with at least one gunshot wound, according Const. Caroline Chvrefils, a spokesperson for the SPVM.

Police now say the 19-year-old was taken to hospital in a car and three of his friends were inside as well. There were also signs that shots had been fired at the vehicle.

The man's death is this year's 22nd homicide on Montreal police territory.

Investigators have met the victim's three friends.

Policeare also at the scene of a shooting in the Cte-Saint-Paul neighbourhood in the Southwest borough.Chvrefils said police received calls at around 4:15 a.m. about shotsbeing fired at the corner de Sve and Drake Streets.

When officers arrived, they found shell casings, but there were no victims in the area. No one has been arrested.

It's not clear if the two events are linked.
