Some Montreal libraries are scaling back their hours this holiday season and in the new year.

The Cte-des-NeigesNotre-Dame-de-Grce borough closed four of its libraries onChristmas Eve and they will only remain open for two days over the holiday break.

In 2016, the borough's libraries will have reduced hours during weekday mornings but now it will be open Mondays.

It is disappointing for Jacinthe Laporte, a mother of two young daughters, who routinely visits the library with her children.

"All the little, little users won't be able to go to the library, because we sleep in the afternoon, they sleep in the afternoon," Laporte said.

CDN-NDG mayor Russell Copeman said it is not a reduction in hours at all since thelibraries will now be open on Mondays.

"The schedule has changed somewhat to allow our four libraries to be openseven days a week which is currently not the case," said Copeman.

The Cte St-Luclibraryis also reducing its hours due to budget constraints.

The library is usually open until 10 p.m. every night but starting in January it will close earlier when it's not busy.

Glenn J. Nashen, the acting mayor ofCteSt-Luc, said the reduction will help the city save $125,000.

The changes means that the library willclose at6 p.m.from Friday to Sunday.
