Suspect charged with 2nd-degree murder following death in Montreal's Saint-Michel neighbourhood

Montreal police say there was a possible conflict between the victim and the suspect.

A 57-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of another man in his 50s in Montreal's northeastern Saint-Michel neighbourhood.

tienne Cedernierappeared in court on Thursday afternoon, the same day Montreal police announced his arrest.

Montreal police officers responded to 911 calls at around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday about a possible fight. Police found a man lying unconscious on 10th Avenue near Louvain Street. He died at the scene.

Police say there was a possible conflict between the victim and a suspect.

The death marked the 23rd homicide of the year on territory covered by the Montreal police.
