NDG Food Depot's weekly market extended through winter

The non-profit's market offers fresh food including fall baked goods, live music and activities for children.

Are you getting enough fresh fruits and vegetables? The NDG Food Depot is extending its Good Food Market through the winter.

Bonnie Soutar, the organization's director of development, confirmed the weekly Friday market will be indoors as of Oct. 23.The market offers fresh food including fall baked goods, live music and activities for children.

"It's going to be inside, so it's much cozier and warm," Soutartold CBC Montreal'sDaybreakon Friday.

The Good Food Market serves both to provide affordable fresh produce and pay farmers a fair price for their food.

For families and individuals in need, there arediscount membership cards available that are identical in appearance toregular membership cards, to ensure privacy.

"Our goal is to make good food more accessible for everyone," said Soutar.

The market isa non-profit initiative. The community organization also accepts donations.

"Youth and children in our community need your support," she said.

"We want them to have enough food for a healthy life."

The Depot provides emergency food baskets for between600 and800 people and prepares between200 and300 meals, all with fresh fruits and vegetables. It also supports community cooking, urban gardening and meal programs.

The Good Food Market isevery Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the NDG Food Depot located at 2146 Marlowe Ave. inNotre-Dame-de-Grce.
