Man shot outside NDG strip club dies of injuries

It was a violent night in Montreal, with a 23-year-old man fatally stabbed in downtown Montreal and another man, 28, who died in hospital hours after he was shot outside the Amazones Cabaret on Saint-Jacques Street.

It was a violent night in Montreal, with a 23-year-old man fatally stabbed in downtown Montreal and another man who died in hospital hours after he was shot outside the Amazones Cabaret on Saint-Jacques Street.

Montreal police said Wednesday afternoon they are investigating the two deaths as the ninth and 10th homicides of 2017.

In the first instance, SPVMConst.RaphaelBergeronsaid the man got into a fight with a group of othermen around 11:40 p.m.

The altercation began on the corner of Ste-Catherine andMackaystreetsand ended on the corner of Crescent Street.

The injured man was transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.

Five men in their 20s were arrested, but three have since been released. Two are still being held for questionning.

Police haveclosedSte-Catherinebetween Guy and de laMontagnestreets as the investigation continues.

"We're going to have to look with different video surveillance from different businesses in that specific perimeter," said Bergeron. "So that's why it's still closed."

Shooting outside NDG strip club

Early Wednesday morning, police were called to the Amazones strip club on St-Jacques Street after a28-year-old man was shot outside the club shortly before 3 a.m.

Police said theman had beenshot at least once in the lower body. The man was rushed to hospital but died there hours later.

A stretch ofSt-Jacques had been closed early Wednesday for the investigation, but police reopened it shortly after 8:30 a.m.
