Palais des congrs opens rooftop garden

Montreal's Palais des congrs convention centre is launching an urban agriculture project, turning almost 20 per cent of its roof into green space.

The aim of the project is to improve air quality, fight rising temperatures and grow vegetables.

The 10,000 square metres will be used to grow tomatoes, eggplants, peppers and dozens of other vegetables.

The city hopes that this initiative be expanded and encourage other property owners to do the same.
