Quebec's Parc Safari is welcoming a tall new addition to its growing brood.

The yet-to-be-named female baby giraffe was born at the park Sunday night to first-time momBonnie.

"It's been going very well," saidFrancis Lavigne, assistant director of zoology at the park, adding that the baby was feeding from its mother this morning.

"We're keeping an eye on the mother and the baby. We have people here watching over them 24 hours a day to ensure that the baby is eating well and eating often."

It's the first time a giraffe has been born at the park in 23 years.

The baby's father is Molson, a transfer from the Calgary Zoo.

The six-foot-tall newborn got its first glimpse of the public Monday as it took a tour around an enclosure with its mother.

The park is askingvisitors to post name suggestions on itsFacebook page.
