Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck in downtown Montreal

Police believe the pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, was crossing Viger Street at St-Urbain Street when she was hit.

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck in downtown Montreal.

Police said the victim isa 74-year-old woman.

She was crossing Viger Street at St-UrbainStreet when she was hit by a truck, which was turning right onto Viger, Const.Julien Lvesquesaid.

The driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for shock.

Police said it's not clear if the driver will face charges.

  • An earlier version of this story said that Montreal police believed the pedestrian was a man in his 50s. Police now say the pedestrian was, in fact, a 74-year-old woman.
