Drivers in Laval couldsoon get caught committing road infractions on camera.

The Quebec government announced today that four intersections in Laval will be equipped with red-light cameras or photo radar by mid-November.

The move is part of an 18-month pilot project that the government hopes will make Quebec roads safer.

"Since 2009, photo radar and surveillance cameras at red lights have proven to be effective in helping improve the road safety record," said Transport Minister Robert Poti.

Over the next few weeks, ads will be featured on radio, internet and highway billboards in order to notify drivers.
