Police investigating two overnight homicides in Montreal area

Police are investigating two separate shooting deaths in the Montreal area that occurred early Sunday morning.

Police are investigating two separate shooting deaths in the Montreal area that occurred early Sunday morning.

Around 1:30 a.m., police received reports of a shootingat the intersection of Langelier Boulevard and Lacoursire Street in the St-Lonard borough.

Police arrived to find a 19-year-old manwhohad beenshot at least once in the upper body.

He died of his wounds soon afterin hospital.

Police are searching for suspects andinterviewing witnesses.

Investigators are looking into whether the shooting was gang-related.

The killing is Montreals 19th homicide of 2014, down from 22 homicides at this time last year.

Lavals first homicide of 2014

A second shooting Sunday morning claimed the life of a man in his 20s in Laval the citys first homicide of 2014.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m.

Police say the man was involved in an argument with another personin a bar on Htel-de-Ville Boulevard in Ste-Dorothe.

The two men took the argument outside and that's when the victim was shot.

Its unclear if the victim was shot by a lone assailant or if other suspects were involved.

Police have a number of witnesses who were interviewed and are currently searching for suspects and a weapon.
