Public meetings to probe noise at St. Hubert airport

People with complaints about noise from a local airport on Montreal's South Shore will be able to vent at public consultations later this winter.

People with complaints about noise from a local airport on Montreal's South Shore will be able to vent those concerns at public consultations later this winter.

The city of Longueuil called for hearings after a recent study suggested decibel levels at the St. Hubert airport are sometimes double the recommended limits set by Transport Canada.

Flights fly late into the night at the airport, which is used by several flight schools, the Canadian military, RCMP, provincial police and Pratt & Whitney.

The consultations are scheduled from March 10 to12 at Longueuil's city hall.

Quebec consultant Steve Flanagan has been hired to coordinate the public events.

Anyone interested in submitting a brief to the hearings has until March 5.
