Quebec to table balanced budget on March 28

Premier Philippe Couillard confirmed the news today in Quebec City, saying Finance Minister Carlos Leitao will table a third consecutive balanced budget for the Liberal government.

Budget comes on heels of health deal with Ottawa

Quebec's government will unveil its newbudget on March 28.

Premier PhilippeCouillardconfirmed the news today in Quebec City.

He said Finance Minister Carlos Leitao will table a third consecutive balanced budget for the Liberal government.

Quebecrecently reached a deal with Ottawa on health fundingwhich will see the provincereceiving$2.5 billion over 10 years, in addition to the three per cent annual increase it was already scheduled to receive.

Health MinisterGatanBarrette said the deal was"significantly less" than whatQuebec needs to maintain health services at their current level.

The details of the transfers will only be finalized when the federal budget is tabled on March 22.
