As the epidemiological situation worsens, final preparations are underway before Quebec begins its COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

TheMaimonides Geriatric Centre in Cte Saint-Luc and the Saint-Antoine CHSLD in Quebec Citywill bethe first two long-term care facilities to receive the Pfizer-BioNTechvaccine starting this week.

The first doses of thevaccine will arrive in Canada Sunday night, with more to follow on Monday, according to the military commander leading the national vaccine distribution effort.

On Sunday, the province reported 33 new deaths, along with 1,994confirmed new cases.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

  • Fever.
  • New or worsening cough.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Sudden loss of smell without a stuffy nose.
  • Gastrointestinal issues (such as nausea, diarrhea).

Quebec government reminders for preventing the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Wear a mask or face coveringwhen physical distancing is not possible. Wearing a mask is mandatory in enclosed public spaces across the province.
  • Stay at least two metres away from other people as much as possible.
  • Self-isolate for 14 days after returning from a stay outside the country.
