Quebec parents and students to protest education cuts

More than 200 schools have confirmed their presence for Monday's demonstration.

Parents and students will form human chains around Quebec public schools Monday morning to protest againstcompressions in education.

Last weekteachers joined other public sector workers in rotating strikes across the province.

More than 200 schools have confirmed their presence for Monday's demonstration organized by the non-profit groupJeprotgemoncolepublique.

Teachers and support staff are expected to join in the arm-in-arm rallies outside of schools.

Since May, human chainshave been organized in support of teachers and to denounce austerity measures implemented by the provincial government.

The organization has also invited parents to protest outside of Liberal candidateDominique Anglade's campaign office in the riding ofSaint-Henri-Sainte-Anne in Montreal. Anglade is vying for one of four vacant posts in Quebec's provincial byelection.

Quebec teachers have been without a contract since April.
