Parents and students are joining hands this morning to protest against compressionsin funding in Quebec's public education system.

The protest is taking place outside of several schools across Montreal today.

The pressure tactic followsweeks ofrotating strikes bypublic sector workers, health-care professionals and teachers in wake of stalled negotiationswith the Quebec government.

Yesterday, Quebecstruck a tentative deal over working conditionswith a labour federation that represents thousands of public sector employees. It did not include a collective agreement

The Common front, a coalition of public sector unions that represents over 400,000 workers, is set to hold a province-wide protest on Dec. 9 if an agreement is not reached.
