Quebec's Uber pilot project pushed back until mid-October

The one-year pilot project between the provincial government and ride-hailing service Uber will now start in October nearly two weeks later than scheduled.

Quebec's one-year pilot project with theride-hailing service Uberwill nowstart in October nearly two weeks later than scheduled.

Quebec's government had initially said the controversial deal would take effect on Sept. 29, but provincial laws only become official 15 days after they are published in the government's official newspaper, the Gazette officielle du Qubec.

The provinceonly publishedthe details of the agreement on Friday, one day after the pilot project was slated to begin,so Uber'simplementation across Quebec ispostponed toOct.14.

The last-minute entente between Uber and Quebecwas struck in early September.
