Option Nationale leads alternative parties with 30,735 votes

Left-wing progressivesovereigntistparty OptionNationalewalked away from last night's election with the biggest share of votes among Quebec's alternative parties, with 30,735 votes in all.

Much of last night's focus was on Quebecs four main political parties the Quebec Liberal Party, thePartiQubcois, the CoalitionAvenirQubecandQubecSolidaire.

But 2. 7 per cent of the popular vote, and a total of87,203 ballots, went to candidates running for Quebecs non-sitting parties.

None of thoseparties managed to scoop up a seat in the national assembly, but some of them did come away with a significant number of votes.

OptionNationale, whichran 116 candidates, led among Quebec's alternative parties with 0.7 per cent of the popular vote.

The Green Party, which ran 44 candidates, followed behind OptionNationalewith 0.6 per cent of the popular vote and 23,266 total votes.
