Ren-Cassin CLSC seniors' day centre to close

The head of the new West Island health services organization has confirmed the drop-in centre for seniors at the Ren-Cassin CLSC will shut down, despite protests from the people who depend on its services.

The decision to shut down adrop-in centre for seniors at the CLSCRen-CassininCte Saint-Lucwill stand.

The decision was confirmed on Tuesday morning byDr. Lawrence Rosenberg, the president-director of the new West Island Health and Social Services Centre.

The daycentre nearthe Cavendish Mall had provided daily activities forseniors who dropped by.

Rosenbergsaid the decision to close the centrehad nothing to do with saving money.

He said they conducted anextensive evaluation, and decided it would be better to provide amore comprehensive service atotherlocations locations nearby the Henri-Bradetand St-Margaret's day centres.

Rosenberg apologized for not consulting families beforemaking the decision.
