Riadh Ben Aissa collaborated with RCMP on SNC-Lavalin investigation
Former SNC-Lavalin vice-president worked with Mounties, documents show
RiadhBenAissa,the former vice-president ofSNC-Lavalin'sconstruction division, collaboratedwith the RCMP investigation into corruption allegations in Libya against the Quebec engineering giant, say court documents released today.
Radio-Canada and other media successfully argued to have the court records partially unsealed.
None of the allegations have been proven in court, and their eligibility andsignificance have not yet been determined.
The documents say the RCMP and BenAissareached an "investigative assistance agreement."
Under the deal, Ben Aissaagreed to co-operate with the investigationin return for theassurance thatinformation he passed along wouldnt be used against him.
The documents also show he was questioned by the RCMP for three daysin July 2013 while he was imprisoned in Switzerland awaiting trialthere.
The money may have been used for, among other things, the purchase ofa $30-million yacht.
This information comes following recent charges brought by the RCMPagainst SNC-Lavalin for past projects in Libya.
SNC-Lavalin has denied any guilt on these charges.
