The prospect of hanging out in oneRosemontpark this summer just got a little more interesting.

The borough of RosemontLaPetite-Patriehas approved a plan to bring about fifteen lambs and sheep to Pelican Park this July.

Their task? Eat grass.

The pilot project comes following a proposal last year fromMathyasLefebure, who was ashepherdinFrance for a decade before moving to Montreal.

He says grazing sheep is anenvironmentally-friendlyway to maintain and fertilize green spaces. He also wants to use sheepto educate city dwellers about farming.

Montreal won'tbe the first Canadian city to try something of this kind.

TheWascanaCentre, a public park in Regina, did the same thingwith goats this year to gobble up invasive weeds.Similar programs exist in Seattle, Paris and Lyon.
