2 motorcyclists in critical condition after crash in Bellechasse region

Two motorcyclists are fighting for their lives after being hit by a truck Saturday afternoon in Saint-Nazaire-de-Dorchester, southeast of Quebec City.

Two motorcyclists are fighting for their lives after being hit by a truck inSaint-Nazaire-de-Dorchester, in the Bellechasseregion,southeast ofQuebec City.

Five motorcycles were heading westbound on Highway 216 around 2 p.m. Saturday when a truck travelling in the opposite direction moved into their lane, according to preliminary information.

The truck struck a motorcycle that was carrying a man in his 60sand a woman in her 50s, seriously injuring both.

They are in critical conditionat the hospital.

Another motorcyclistsuffered minor injuries after trying toavoid impact with the truck.

The driver of the truck was slightly injured.

Sgt. Claude Denis, withSret du Qubec, confirmeda reconstructionist was at the scene of the accident.

Highway 216 is currently closed to traffic to allowprovincial police to conductan investigation.
