Snowmobiler dies after crashing into tree in St-Alphonse-Rodriguez

A 46-year-old snowmobiler died late Thursday night after hitting a tree on the edge of a trail in St-Alphonse-Rodriguez.

Provincial police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash

A 46-year-old man died late Thursday night after hitting a tree on the edge of a snowmobile trail.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. near route 343 in St-Alphonse-Rodriguez, in the provinces Lanaudire region.

Sgt. Claude Denis of the Sret du Qubec said the man was travelling on a groomed trail, with two others who were travelling on another snowmobile.

He said the victim lost control while attempting a curve.

The man was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Denis said alcohol was not a factor in this death.
