Snowstorm forces closure of 2 highways

Two highways inthe Eastern Townships have been closed because of poor driving conditions caused by Thursday's severe snowstorm in the northeastern U.S.

Transport Quebec hasclosed Highway 20 and Highway 132 in both directions between Lvis and Montmagny near Quebec City after several accidents were reported on that stretch.

Snowy conditions and strong winds are to blame for the closures, said Yves Kirouac, spokesman for Transport Quebec.

The number of vehicles that were involved in the accidents is not known, he said.

No injuries were reported.

Transport Quebec doesn't know when the highways will reopen, Kirouac said.
