St-Jacques Street to close at midnight for 2 years
Section between Girouard and Dcarie scheduled to close until Fall 2017
After midnight Friday, St-Jacques street between Girouard Avenue and Dcarie Boulevard will be closed until 2017, so it can be dismantled and rebuilt as part of the reconstruction of the Turcot interchange.
The closurewill affect drivers using the St. Jacques exit oftheVille-Marieexpressway, as well as those travelling east along St-Jacques street.
Drivers will be forced to detour ontoDcarieBoulevard,Upper-LachineRoad andGirouardAvenue.
The work had been originally scheduled to begin last July.
Workers will first move part of a sewage system located below the bridge, before the dismantling of the St-Jacques overpass starting next year, Quebec's transport ministry said.
Until the demolition starts, local trafficwill be allowed on St-Jacques Streetbetween Addington Street and Dcarie Boulevard.
Pedestrians will still be able to use all of St. Jacques St. until the end of 2015.
