Community service sentence put on hold pending appeal

Former Montreal police officer Stfanie Trudeau's appeal of her assaultconviction will be heard next week.

Trudeau, known as "Officer 728" because of her badge number, was given a 12-month suspended sentence and ordered to perform60 hours of community service in May after being found guilty of assault afterusing excessive force during an arrest in 2012.

The community service order was put on hold pending the outcome of her appeal.

A date for her appeal is to be set nextFriday.

Trudeauresigned from the Montreal police force in September 2015 after nearly two decades.
