Montreal's public transit authority is gearing up to beginmajor repairs to theBerri-UQAMMetro station's green line platform, which the Socitde Transports (STM) sayswill take six months to complete and will affect metro users.

CBC Montreal reporter Sarah Leavitt joined other journalists at theBerri-UQAMstation for a media tour of the continuing work.

TheBerri-UQAMstation is the busiest in the Montreal Metro system with 12.9 million users per year.

The STM says the work underway at theBerri-UQAMstation will enter an important phase next week when theescalatorsonthe green line's Angrignon platformwill be reconfigured.

Work at theBerri-UQAMMetro station began in 2010 and is expected ot be completed in 2017.

Passersby also caught a glimpse of the new AZURtrainas it went by for a test drive.

The STMestimatesthe cost of seven-yearproject at $87 million.
