STM employee suspended after service interruption during rush hour

An employee suspected of inciting 84 unionized bus drivers to protest during Monday's rush hour has been suspended, according to the president of the STM, Philippe Schnobb.

Service on a number of bus lines was paralyzed Monday morning after some unionized bus drivers working out of the STM's transport centre in Anjou refused to leave the depot.

According to a spokeswoman for the transit authority, the drivers had a problem with new rules from the SAAQ, Quebec's automobile insurance board, which went into effect on Monday.

The union that represents bus drivers, SCFP, denied involvement in the protest.
