The STM is trying out an idea many passengers have been hoping to see for years.

From March 21 to June 19, Montreal's transit agency will allow passengers to board buses on the121 Sauv / Cte-Vertu line at both the frontand rear doors.

The STM says thetrial willbe restricted to those holding an unlimited-use pass monthly, weekly, four-month orannualand fare control"will rely on the honour system."

The new practice will be in effect every day of the week, from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

"With this pilot project, the STM hopes to assess its advantages and drawbacks for the customer experience and operations, and thereby determine whether boarding buses in this manner is feasible in our operatingenvironment," PhilippeSchnobb, chairman of the STM board of directors, said in a statement.
