Montreal metro returns to normal after rush-hour outage

Montreal's metro is up and running again after service went down on all lines this afternoon.

Montreal's metro is up and running again after service went down on all lines this afternoon.

Thecity-wide metro outage hit commuters around 5:45 p.m.

According to Montreal's public transit corporation, the breakdown was caused by a computer problem.

This is the second time in less than a monththattechnical issues have brought the metro to a standstill.

In 2012, Montreal's metro had more than 1,000 unplanned stoppages, making itthe worst record for service delays in six years.

An internal report by the STM revealed that half of interruptions were caused by passengers.
