Montreal police have released a young man who was questioned in connection with a potential hate crime in Notre-Dame-de-Grce.

A spokeman for the police said they now believe he had nothing to do with the crime.

Last week, the owners of several cars parked in an underground residential parking garage discovered redswastikas had been spray-painted backwards on the hoods of their cars.

Residents said threatening notes were also left behind.

Police are still looking for suspects.
