School is cancelled for students of all ages at Montreal's largest French school board, the Commission scolaire de Montral, for three days in December as part of a strike by unionized workers.

A letter was issued to parents on Monday following a weekend of public sector negotiations between unions and the government.

The latest strike days includeDec. 9, 10 and11.

The announcement comes days after thousands of public sector workers across Quebec promised to walk off the job on Dec. 9 if they don't have a negotiated deal with the provincialgovernment by that time.

Teachers, health-care workers and civil servants are slated to strike that day.

Parents and teachers will also form human chainsaround some schoolsbefore class starts on Dec. 1 toprotest cuts to the education sector.
