Quebec's Transport Ministryhas unveiled its five-year plan for the construction of the new Turcot Interchange.

The work to dismantle the current interchangewill be done over the next four years.

The new Turcot will provide a direct access to Highway 20 from AngrignonBoulevard and Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue.

''The current situation creates major traffic problems on Notre-Dame Street and Angrignon Boulevard,'' said Sandra Sultana, assistant director of the Turcot project at the Transport Ministry.

Assistantdirector for the KPH-Turcot ConsortiumSbastien Marcouxsaidtraffic situations will be evaluated on an ongoing basis.

"We make sure that we adjust if needed whether it's modifying the synchronization of traffic lights, whether it's using the police forces at certain intersections, whether it's even adding, in certain instances, temporary traffic lights," Marcoux said.

The new structure isscheduled to be ready by the fall of 2020.

In the meantime, the worksite will stretch fromSt-Pierre Avenue andAngrignonBoulevard as crews tear down the existingTurcotpiece by piece.

Work is scheduled to take place Monday to Fridaybetween 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
