Zack Kassian of Montreal Canadiens injured in truck crash

Zack Kassian, a forward for the Montreal Canadiens, was involved in a vehiclecrash on Sunday morning in Montreal.

Canadiensspokesman DonaldBeauchampssaidKassiansuffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital, where he was seen by a team doctor.

The accident happened near the corner ofClanranald Avenue and Cte St-Luc Roadin the Notre-Dame-de-Grce neighbourhood. A black truck smashed into a tree, and a witness saw Kassianstep out.

The witness, on Twitter,said that Kassian was "bloodied and dazed" when he left the vehicle.

Const. Manuel Couture said the 20-year-old woman driving the vehicle may have been drinking. Police are waiting for blood sample results.

There was also an18-year-old woman in the vehicle at the time of the collision.

The Canadiens, who played a pre-season game in Ottawaon Saturdaynight, were givenSundayoff and resume practiceon Monday.

Kassian, 24, was acquired in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks in the off-season.
