Chase the Ace in Dalhousie goes for $1.3M
Man picks ace from remaining six cards, will split money with mother-in-law
Rino Maltaisof Campbelltonpicked the aceof spades to win $1.3 million in Dalhousie's Chase the Ace.
There were six cards left in thedeck when Maltais's ticket was selected from the thousands in the bin.
With ticket number 261255 picked and announced, Maltais,and his wifeDanielle, made theirway to the stage where Maltais picked thecard.
Organizers built a special glass bin to hold all the tickets. A blindfoldedperson picked the winning ticket from the bin.
The money raised from the fundraiser will benefit theRecreaplex and Rotary Club in Dalhousie.
Maltais,and his wifeDanielle,will split the$1,311,574 in winningswith her mother.
"My mother-in-law never won that much money for babysitting my kids,'' Maltais said in French.
The couple said they don't know exactly what they're going todo with the money, but they might travel, invest it, and save some for their kids education.
