Cherie Campbell, Fredericton officer, faces 2nd day at arbitration hearing

The arbitration hearing for Fredericton Const. Cherie Campbell is continuing in Fredericton on Tuesday.

The arbitration hearing for Fredericton Const. Cherie Campbell is continuing in Fredericton on Tuesday. Astaff member from the Maine storewhere the officer isaccused of shoplifting istestifying.

Campbell's arbitration hearing started on Monday. She's facing three charges:

  • Campbell is alleged to have stolen about $20 of cosmetics fromMarden'sDiscount Store in December 2014.
  • Campbell "utilized her position as a police officer to obtain favourable treatment" by telling security officers she was a police officer, in order to sway them.
  • Campbell called a police officer in Fredericton to try and keep news of the incident from Fredericton Police Chief LeanneFitch.

The Fredericton constablehas denied all the charges that are now beforearbitratorCedricHainesin a hearing called by the New Brunswick Police Commission.

Stephen Shannon. the loss prevention supervisor atMarden'sin Houlton,Me., is testifying.

Fitch filed the complaint about Campbellwith the New Brunswick Police Commission.

Campbell has been suspended with pay since the incident on Dec. 2, 2014.
