Clare MacKenzie is the new host of CBC New Brunswick News

Clare MacKenzie is the new permanent host of CBC New Brunswick News. She will anchor the television and streaming news program beginning on Sept. 3.


Clare brings an impressive depth of journalism experience to the role having hosted a range of local CBCNews and current affairs programs, as well as network and regional shows. Her background includes reporting, producing feature stories, documentaries, writing and covering breaking news.

"I'm incredibly honoured to take on the role as host of CBC New Brunswick News," said Clare. "Our communities are filled with inspiring and diverse stories and I'm eager to share these voices with our viewers."

Throughout her career, Clare has covered some of the nation's most significant news events, including the crash of Swissair flight 111, where she delivered TV reports and updates for CBC Newsworld and international television channels including BBC and CNN. More recently, she worked on digital coverage of the aftermath of hurricane Fiona and its devastating impacts across P.E.I.

Clare's work has garnered numerous accolades. She worked on a documentary for CBC's Man Alive called The Ring, earning several international, national and regional awards. She was also the senior researcher and story consultant for the Gemini Award-winning Dreamfilm documentary, Peace Warrior.

Born in Montreal, Clare grew up in St. John's before heading to Halifax to study French and journalism. After working with CBC in St. John's, Toronto, Vancouver and Halifax, Clare settled in Fredericton.
