Antlered deer hunt reinstated in northwestern New Brunswick

For the first time since 1993, a limited antlered deer hunt this season will be allowed in northwest New Brunswick.

Region will see first limited hunt since 1993 after population rebounds

For the first time in more than 20 years,a limited antlered deer hunt will be allowed in northwestern New Brunswick.

The hunt will take place from Oct. 5 to Nov. 8. Hunting has not been allowed in thatzone since 1993.

In a statement, Natural Resources minister Denis Landry said,"Research provided by the Northern New Brunswick Quality Deer Management group suggests the deer population has rebounded."

The government says the antlered deer hunting season will consist of a three-week archery season followed by a two-week gun season.
