Suspects in diamond theft appear in Saint John court

The two suspects police believe to be involved in a diamond theft in Saint John require a Russian translator and will be back in court Monday.

The two suspects believed to be involved in the theft of a $10,000 diamond theft from a Saint John jewelry made a short appearance in a Saint John courtroom this morning.

GrigoriZaharov,70, with his white beard now shaved,andNataliaFeldman, 44, from Vaughan, Ont. were arrestedat their residenceby the York Regional Police on Oct. 19. They were transported to Saint John last night accompanied by a Saint John Police officer.

The duo have asked for a Russian interpreter.

The arrest came after a Canada-wide warrant was issued for their arrest.

The two werearrested in connection with the theft of a diamond that is worth an estimated $10,000in Saint John earlier in October.

Sgt.Charles Breenfrom the Saint John Police Force said they will be charged with theft over $5,000.
