Liberals make gains in Moncton, southeast region

The Liberals picked up several seats in Moncton and the surrounding region, defeating incumbent PC cabinet ministers and a Green Party MLA.

The Liberals picked up several seats in Moncton and the surrounding region, defeating incumbent PC cabinet ministers and a Green Party MLA.

Here are the results across the region by riding:

Kent North

LiberalPat Finnigan, a former MP,secured 44.8 per cent of the 8,765 votes to unseat Green Party incumbentKevin Arseneau,who had 37.1 per cent of the vote.

PC candidateCarl Cosby had 16.4 per cent of the vote. People's Alliance candidate Carole Boudreau won 1.7 per cent of the vote.

Beausoleil-Grand-Bouctouche-Kent

Incumbent LiberalBenot Bourquewon 64.6 per cent of the 8,975 votes cast.

PC candidateAnn Bastarache won 19.6 per cent, Green candidateBernadette Morin won 13.6 per cent,Consensus candidateLenny O'Brien had 1.2per cent, and LibertarianEddy Richardhad one per cent of the vote.

Shediac Bay-Dieppe

Liberal incumbentRobert Gauvinwon with 68.1 per cent of the9,587 votes cast. PC candidateRen Ephestion won 18.8 per cent, while Green candidateChantal Landry won 13.1 per cent.

Shediac-Cap-Acadie

Incumbent LiberalJacques LeBlancwon 56.3 per cent of the9,661 votes compared to 30 per cent for Green candidateJean Bourgeois and 13.7 per cent for PC candidateChristine Arsenault.

Tantramar

Green incumbentMegan Mitton, one of two of the party's MLAs returning to office, won 48.9 per cent of the5,051 votes cast.

Liberal candidateJohn Highamwon 25.3 per cent, while PC candidateBruce Phinney won 23.1 per cent.

Evelyne Godfrey, the NDP candidate, won 1.7 per cent, whileLibertarian candidateDonna Allen won 1.1 per cent.

Dieppe-Memramcook

Liberal Natacha Vautourwon with 66.3 per cent of the8,442 votes cast. Green candidateJacques Gigure won 18.1 per cent, while PC candidateDean Lonardhad 15.5 per cent.

Moncton East

LiberalAlexandre Cdric Doucetwon with 60 per cent of the7,417 votes cast. PC candidatePaolo (PJ) Andreetti had 25.7 per cent, Green candidateDiani Blancohad 9.9 per cent, and NDP candidate Alex Gagne had 4.4 per cent.

Moncton Centre

Liberal Rob McKee was re-elected with 56.5 per cent of the6,192 votes cast. PC candidateDave Melanson had 28.1 per cent, Green candidate Sarah Colwell11.5 per cent, and NDP candidateJames Ryan had 3.9 per cent.

Moncton South

LiberalClaire Johnson won with 53.2 per cent of the6,688 votes cast, unseating PC cabinet minister Greg Turner who had 33.3 per cent. Green candidateVincent Merola had 13.5 per cent of the vote.

Moncton Northwest

LiberalTania Sodhiwon with 46.4 per cent of the8,101 votes cast, unseating PCErnie Steeveswho had 43.6 per cent.Green candidateAna Santana had 9.9 per cent of the vote.

Champdor-Irishtown

LiberalLyne Chantal Boudreauwon with 53.1 per cent of the7,028 votes over PCRicky Gautreau who had 34.9 per cent.

Green candidateMatthew Ian Clark had 10.6 per cent, whileLibertarian Adam Hennessey had 1.5 per cent.

Riverview

PCRob Weir won with 38.8 per cent of the 8,029 votes cast over LiberalScott Grant, who had 34.1 per cent.

Green candidateSarah Lord had 24.6 per cent of the vote, while NDP candidateDesiree Despres had 1.6 andLibertarianRebecca Mallaleyhad 0.9 per cent.

Albert-Riverview

PCSherry Wilson won with 52.4 per cent of the8,328 votes over LiberalDave Gouthro, who had 31.2 per cent of the vote.

Green candidateLiam MacDougall had 11.7 per cent, while People's Alliance candidateSharon Buchanan had 3.6 per cent andLibertarian William Jones had 1.2 per cent.
