Moncton's real-life Elf on the Shelf, Joe Wynberg, is gaining international attention with an appearance on The Tonight Show as Christmas day approaches.

Moncton's real-life Elf on the Shelf, Joe Wynberg,is gaining international attention with an appearance on The Tonight Showas Christmas dayapproaches.

This week host Jimmy Fallonpoked fun atWynbergandshowed a photo of him dressed in his elf costume, perched on top of his refrigeratorduring one of hismonologues.

"Did you guys see this? A dad in Canada has been getting in on the Elf on the Shelf trend by dressing himself up as the elf and hiding around his house,"Fallonasks the audience,

"I think the kids might get to see Santa this year because they are never sleeping again," Fallon jokes.

The Elf on the Shelf is a tradition that is growing in popularity.

The elf keeps an eye on children in the weeks leading up to Christmas, reporting whether they've been naughty or niceto Santa every night, and showing up in a new spot in the house every morning.

Wynberg's wife, Megan, has also started getting in on the fun.

Instead of just taking photos of her husband she is now also dressing up as an elf.

The couple said in an interview last week that the photos are to amuse their family and friends on Facebook and they aren't shared with their four young children.

The Wynbergshave also caught the attention of People magazine and Buzzfeed Canada.
