Fans camp out for Elton John tickets

Lineups to snag tickets to Elton John's September concerts in Saint John and Moncton have already started.

But online buyers may jump the queue

Lineups to snag tickets to Elton John's September concerts in Saint John and Moncton have already started.

In Saint John the line began on Wednesday at 10 p.m. when Bob Toner began to queue at Harbour Station.

Armed with a blanket, camping chair and cooler, Toner will have waited about 60 hours in line before the box office opens on Saturday morning to begin selling tickets.

Toner said his wife is such a big fan of the British music icon that he wanted to make sure he got seats for the Sept. 30 show.

At Moncton's Coliseum, lines were banned on Thursday, but were expected to begin to form on Friday.

The best way for people to get tickets for the Moncton show on Sept. 28 is to go online Saturday morning, said Jillian Somers, spokeswoman for the city.

Tickets will be available at the box office, she said, but a full complement of employees will be handling online orders and those in a queue outside the Coliseum may find that tickets are no longer available by the time they get to the front of the line, Somers said.

This is the first time that John will be performing in Atlantic Canada. The pop singer and composer will also be playing Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador as part of his 2008 Rocket Man tour.

About 8,000 tickets will be availablefor each concert with prices ranging from $95.50 to $149.50. Customers are allowed to buy a maximum of four tickets each.
