The Digby-Saint John ferry service is set to resume on Monday after a mechanism failure at the dock in Saint John, N.B.

The service has been suspended since Tuesday.

The problem is with one of the two winches that raises and lowers the bumper to account for changes in sea level. The bumper allows the ferry captain to position the vessel on the dock for loading and offloading.

Kelly Williams, the director of corporate services at Bay Ferries, said in an email that repairs to the bumper will take up to two weeks. She said the bumper was to be removed Sunday and the ferry will dock without it.

Service will resume Monday with the 9 a.m. Saint John departure.
