Firefighters find woman's body after Val-d'Amour fire

The death of a woman is being treated as suspicious, RCMP said Sunday.

The death of a woman is being treated as suspicious after her body was found in Val-d'Amour, N.B., Sunday.

CampbelltonRCMPhave not yet identified thedeceased woman.

Firefighters found her body in theburned-out home when responding to fire call at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, RCMP spokesmanConst. HansOuellette said.

Val-d'Amour is a small communityin Restigouche County, just south ofCampbellton.

The RCMP'smajor crime unit isinvestigating with a forensic identification unit at the scene of the fire. An autopsy will be conducted in order to confirm the woman's identity, Ouellette said.

Hecould not confirmif anyone else was home at the time of the fire.
