Former N.B. priest faces another sex charge

A priest who worked in Dalhousie, N.B., in the 1970s and is still with the Catholic Church in Montreal, has been charged with indecent assault the third time he's faced sex-related charges.

A priest who worked in Dalhousie, N.B., in the 1970shas been chargedwith indecent assault against a teenage boy in 1978.

Dalhousie RCMP laid the charge Monday.

Charles Picot, who is in his 60s, will enter a pleain May, said RCMP Cpl. Allain LeBlanc.

Picot left the diocese of Bathurst in 1993. He is not a practising priest

This is the third time Picot has faced sex-related charges. In 1993, he served seven months injail for two counts of sexual assault and one of indecent assault.

Last year, he was charged with another count of indecent assault dating back to 1975. The alleged victims were teenage boys.

Picot has pleaded not guilty in that case and his trial before a judge alone is scheduled to start in Campbellton on March 2, LeBlanc said.
